Proposed legislation would allow county jail inmates to vote

Legislation currently under consideration in Springfield would allow inmates in county jails to vote.
HB 4469 would allow eligible inmates to vote by mail. It would also set up a temporary polling place inside fo the Cook County Jail.
Upon release, eligible inmates would be able to request a voter application registration.
The bill was introduced by State Rep Juliana Stratton. Stratton is JB Pritzker’s running mate in the gubernatorial race.
