Movie-related memorabilia collected during late film critic Roger Ebert’s tenure at the Chicago Sun-Times will become part of a University of Illinois collection.
There are over 50 file drawers full of movie press kits, film reviews and other documents. The files are expected to become part of the Roger Ebert Archives at the university, which hosts an annual film festival named for the critic and plans a film center.
University archivist William Maher says the files had been stored in the Chicago newspaper’s basement.
The university is continuing to raise money for the film center.
Ebert died in 2013 at age 70. The Pulitzer Prize-winning critic for the Sun-Times was a native of Urbana in central Illinois and a graduate of the University of Illinois.
