An honor flight left Marion around 6:40 am Tuesday for Washington, DC.
The 55 veterans are from the area around Marion, Illinois.
This trip comes at no cost to the veterans. It is paid for by donations from corporate sponsors and private donors.
Family and friends came out to see them off.
The vets will visit the World War two memorial, the Korean War Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, and other monuments.
There will be a welcome home event at the Marion airport around 5:00 pm with parking at Sam’s Club
