Sen. Durbin asks feds to help Amtrak run on time

US Sen. Dick Durbin (D)

Senator Dick Durbin has asked the Federal Railroad Administration help make Amtrak trains run on time in Illinois.
In a letter to federal officials, Durbin states that the Carbondale to Chicago line is one of the worst performing routes in the entire country running on time only 32 percent of the time.
According to Durbin, the Illini and Saluki trains are delayed by track owners Canadian National, who have imposed speed restrictions and operate freight trains as a priority, delaying the Amtrak.
