12-year-old boy killed in I-57 wreck

A 12-year-old boy is dead after a crash on Interstate 57.
It happened Thursday morning in Union County.
According to State Police, Robert Peterson, of Killeen, Texas, was driving south in a tractor trailer when he left the road to the right, hit a ditch, laying the rig over on the driver’s side.
Peterson was wearing his seat belt, and had to be cut out of the truck. He was flown to an out of state hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The passenger, a twelve-year-old boy was thrown from the wreck, sustaining fatal injuries.
Portions of southbound 57 were closed for hours while the crews cleaned up the wreck.
