A Benton man is in custody following a carjacking incident Friday afternoon in rural West Frankfort.
Franklin County Sheriff David Bartoni says the victim’s vehicle was spotted in Zeigler by law enforcement. The driver sped away, but eventually exited the vehicle, fleeing on foot. He was captured by an off-duty Royalton police officer and a state police K-9 unit.
25-year-old Robert L. Plumlee has been charged with aggravated vehicular hijacking, unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle and aggravated battery.
The name of the victim was not identified.
