DU QUOIN, Ill. (WJPF) — Du Quoin Mayor Guy Alongi is promising a “significant economic development” at Monday night’s city council meeting.
Alongi made the announcement on social media Friday morning, but has since declined to provide any more information as to what that development might be.
The Perry County Weekly Press is reporting that a hemp processing plant will be opening in Du Quoin.
It’s to be located in the former Heartland Baking USA building in the Du Quoin industrial park.
The plant will specialize in oil extraction for wholesale markets.
