Fountain Bluff wildfire burns nearly 30 acres

GORHAM, Ill. (WJPF) — A wildfire in the Shawnee National Forest has now burned through nearly 30 acres.
The fire, in the Fountain Bluff area of Jackson County, was first reported late Tuesday afternoon.
On Wednesday, the US Forest Service said firefighters had been establishing control lines in an attempt to protect any infrastructure or private property. Rain in the forecast Thursday and later this week will help put out the fire, which is now thought to be human-caused.
Vehicles travelling on Route 3 in the Gorham area should be alert of smoke blowing over the road and emergency vehicles in the area. The FAA has also placed a temporary flight restriction over the area. The restriction includes drones or any other unmanned aircraft.
