Two handguns, abandoned car found in Wednesday shooting investigation

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) — Carbondale Police have released more information about a drive-by shooting Wednesday night near the campus of SIU.
According to police, the occupants of two vehicles exchanged gunfire in the 500 and 600 block of Oakland Street.
One of the vehicles involved was abandoned in an SIU campus parking lot. Police say that vehicle was damaged by the gunfire. No injuries have been reported.
Police later located two handguns about five blocks away in the 1000 block of Oakland Street.
No suspects have been named. Anyone with information is asked to contact Carbondale Police.
