ISP ID’s victim of police-involved shooting

CARTERVILLE, Ill. (WJPF) — Illinois State Police have released more information about Tuesday’s fatal, police-involved shooting in Carterville.
According to ISP, at about 2:50 p.m. two Carterville police officers were dispatched to a home in the 200 block of Dobson Street after a report of a man with a gun.
Arriving at the scene, police say they found Joseph McGrath, 52, on the front porch, armed with a shotgun. After being told repeatedly by officers to put down the weapon, McGrath instead raised the shotgun towards police, prompting them to fire their weapons. McGrath was pronounced dead at the scene.
