Randolph County teen killed in train-car collision

 
PRAIRIE DU ROCHER, Ill. (WJPF) — A 16-year-old girl was killed when her car was hit by a train Friday in Randolph County.
It happened at about 5:30 p.m. night at a double crossing on Duclos Street, near Berger Lane, in Prairie Du Rocher.
Illinois State Police say the teenager initially stopped to let a northbound freight train pass, but then drove around the lowered crossing gates and was hit by a southbound freight train on the second set of tracks.
The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. The train crew refused medical attention.
