Harrisburg Legence Bank ATM damaged in attempted theft

HARRISBURG, Ill. (WJPF) — Harrisburg Police are investigating the attempted robbery of an ATM.
Police say sometime after 5:00 a.m. Friday a pickup truck was stolen from the Rural King parking lot. At about 6:20 a.m. the truck turned up at Legence Bank on North Commercial Street. Video from the bank’s security cameras shows two people getting out of the truck, prying open the ATM, hooking a chain to the truck and to the machine, and attempting to steal the ATM by pulling it off it’s base. The machine was damaged, but no money was taken. The stolen truck was abandoned near the bank.
Police were called by a bank employee at about 7:00 a.m. The suspects have not been identified. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Harrisburg Police Department at (618) 252-8661.
