Carbondale man arrested after threating others with knife

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – A Carbondale man faces assault, theft, and trespassing charges.
Carbondale Police say officers were called to a business in the 1400 block of East Main street after reports of a person threatening people with a knife. Arriving at the scene, officers found Troy Johnson, 58, getting out of a vehicle with a knife in his hand. Johnson dropped the knife when ordered by officers then tried to run.
While placing Johnson under arrest, officers found in his possession items reported stolen from a nearby business. Johnson is also accused of getting into an occupied vehicle without the permission of the driver or passenger.
Troy Johnson was taken to the Jackson County Jail.
