Saluki Softball inks Hannah Hockerman to 2022 signing class

CARBONDALE, Ill. — The Southern Illinois University softball team has added pitcher Hannah Hockerman to the team’s 2022 signing class, interim head coach Jen Sewell announced Thursday.
Hockerman, a sophomore at Rock Valley Community College in Rockford, Ill., currently leads NJCAA DIII with 21 wins, is second in strikeouts (180) and is fifth in earned run average (1.91). As a freshman, she earned NJCAA All-Region honors after she went 12-3 in the circle with a 3.27 ERA in 77 innings of work to help Rock Valley win its seventh-straight NJCAA DIII National Championship.
The right-handed hurler played her prep ball at Westfield H.S. where she earned All-State honors. Hockerman plans to major in animal science and agricultural education at SIU as she lives on a dairy farm in Westfield, Wis. where she works with over 1,700 livestock.
“We are excited to add Hannah to our Saluki family,” Sewell said. “She is going to add some much needed depth to an already talented group on the mound. It’s important at this level that we have healthy arms and that more than one or two pitchers can carry the load of a very tough RPI schedule next year. Hannah is a hard worker and will fit right into our culture!”
Hockerman joins a 2022 signing class that features infielder Erin Lee (Edinburgh, Ind.), infielder/catcher Haley Wilkerson (Whiteland, Ind.), catcher Anna Carder (Athens, Ala.), pitcher Elliott Stinson and infielder Jackie Lis (Newburgh, Ind.).
