According to a report by Aaron Britton, who has developed his own state rankings for Illinois high school boys’ basketball, Murphysboro center A.J. Walker has transferred to Route 13 rival Carbondale.

Walker stands at 6’6 as he enters his senior season.  He did not play basketball in his freshman or sophomore years of high school.
In his junior season, Walker averaged around 6 points a game and was a defensive threat grabbing rebounds out of the air and blocking shots throughout the season, recording 3+ blocks in multiple games.
Walker and the Red Devils went 28-3 in the 2021-22 season, falling to Nashville 33-30 in the Carterville 2A Sectional semifinals.
