Match-up set between #2 and #3 in latest John A. Logan College Little Egypt Football Coaches’ Poll

Entering Week 3 of the IHSA Football season, Marion is the unanimous #1 team in Little Egypt.  While the Wildcats prepare to head to Highland this week, #2 Murphysboro and #3 Carterville are gearing up for the game of the week when the Red Devils walk in to the Lions’ Den on Friday night.
Below the top 3, there was plenty of movement with Centralia rising four spots to #4 while Mt. Vernon leapt up to #5.  Nashville’s big 38-20 loss to Freeburg had them drop out of the top 5 to #6, Mt. Vernon edged out the Hornets by one point.
Carbondale’s Ian Davis hit a last second field goal to win over Granite City this past Friday, helping to raise the Terriers from #9 (t) to #7 while Sesser-Valier is beginning to turn heads with a massive 15-12 win over then-#5 Fairfield, which sent the Mules into a tumble down to #10.
Harrisburg bounced back from a last-second loss to East Alton-Wood River in Week 1 with a big win over Du Quoin, which booted them from the rankings and opened the door for the Bulldogs.
