Two state troopers involved this week in Scott’s Law violations

COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (WJPF) – Illinois State Police are reminding drivers to slow down and move over when they see flashing lights on the side of the road.
This week, ISP says two troopers were involved in two separate violations of Scott’s Law.
The first happened around 11:50 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 90 in Chicago. A state police SUV, sitting in the far-right lane with emergency light on, was rear-ended. No one was hurt. The driver, 32-year-old Jessica Allen of Chicago was cited for a violation of Scott’s Law – Improper Passing of an Emergency Vehicle, No Insurance, and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
The second incident happened around 1:00 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 270 in Collinsville. A tractor trailer narrowly missed hitting a trooper who was outside of their vehicle investigating a traffic crash. The trooper walked away with minor cuts and bruises. The driver of the tractor trailer initially didn’t stop. They were located, pulled over, and cited by another state police trooper a short time later.
The incident in Chicago marked the 19th time a state police vehicle has been involved this year in a Scott’s Law crash.
