SIU men’s basketball to face Alabama in charity exhibition contest

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southern Illinois Basketball will face Alabama in a preseason charity exhibition on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. CT inside Foster Auditorium, the two programs announced Friday.
The teams will play a full 40-minute regulation game. Proceeds from the contest will benefit the Community Service Programs of West Alabama’s Alberta Head Start Program as a social injustice initiative supporting the local community.
Tickets to the game will be available soon and can be purchased HERE.
The matchup will serve as a tune-up for the Salukis before the team’s regular-season opener against Little Rock on Nov. 7 at Banterra Center. The Salukis return seven letterwinners and four starters from last year’s squad, highlighted by All-MVC honorees Marcus Domask and Lance Jones.
Alabama finished the 2021-22 season with a 19-14 overall record including a 9-9 mark in SEC play. UA advanced to the NCAA Tournament as the No. 6 seed, falling to Notre Dame in the first round.
Men’s Basketball season tickets for the 2022-23 season are on sale now, with prices beginning as low as $125. For more information, fans can call the SIU Ticket Office at 877-SALUKIS.
