Marion’s Kerry Martin calls it a career

Marion head coach Kerry Martin is retiring from the sidelines after 33 seasons coaching.  Wednesday, Marion Athletics made a post acknowledging all of Martin’s accolades through his 33 years of coaching and stating “Your watch has ended, coach.”
Martin has been one of the best high school football coaches to coach in Southern Illinois with stops at Sparta, Flora, Carterville, and Marion.
Martin is one of IHSA’s top 50 winningest coaches of all time with a 232-107 career record.  He led the Carterville Lions to the 3A state championship in 1996.
