One killed, one injured in Route 3 crash

UNION COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – A 73-year-old Jonesboro man is dead after a three vehicle crash Monday in Union County.
It happened at about 9:10 p.m. on Route 3, not far from Refuge Road.
Illinois State Police say the 73-year-old was driving south when his car crossed the centerline, sideswiping a second vehicle and then hitting a third vehicle head on.
The 73-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released pending family notification. The driver of the vehicle hit head on, 59-year-old Peggy Duty, also of Jonesboro, was taken to an area hospital. The driver of the side-swiped vehicle was not hurt.
