Multiple area football players earn All-State honors

The Illinois High School Football Coaches Association released their All-State teams on Tuesday.

In 1A, Sesser-Valier-Waltonville had a pair of representatives:

Quarterback and linebacker Colt Packer was named to the All-State Team.  Star running back Dezmond Malone was an Honorable Mention member.

In 2A, Nashville quarterback JT Malawy and Christopher-Zeigler-Royalton running back Briar Rowland were both named to the All-State Team.

In 3A, Du Quoin sported a pair of representatives.  Offensive lineman Aaron Fikuart was named to the All-State Team and defensive lineman Dwayne Wilmington earned Honorable Mention.

Also in 3A, Mt. Carmel quarterback Blayne Sisson was named to the All-State Team.  Benton defensive tackle and tight end Luke Barry, Mt. Carmel defensive back Andrew Gilihan, and Mt. Carmel Asher Kight were members of the Honorable Mention squad.

In 4A, Carterville quarterback Brandon Skelcher and Murphysboro linebacker and running back Sam Herring were named to the All-State team.  Murphysboro wide receiver, cornerback, and punt returner Karmelo Abernathy as well as Herrin running back and linebacker Jakai Vaughn received Honorable Mention.

In 5A, Mt. Vernon star running back Navontae Nesbit was named to the All-State Team.
