Bost, Bryant, Severin face primary challenges

(WJPF) – Three Democrats and two Republicans are seeking election to southern Illinois’ single seat in Congress.

Republican Mike Bost has represented the 12th District since 2015.  He’s being challenged in the GOP primary by former state senator Darren Bailey.  On the Democratic side, Brian Roberts of De Soto, Preston Nelson of Lebanon, and Joshua Qualls of Centralia are seeking their party’s nomination.

State Senator Terri Bryant and State Representative Dave Severin will both have Republican challengers in the 2024 primary.

In the 58th Senate District, Terri Bryant is being challenged by Scheller Resident Wesley Kash, an attorney and farmer.  In the 116th House District, Dave Severin is being challenged by Sesser resident and current Franklin County Board member Angela Evans.

The 2024 primary election is scheduled for March 19.
