WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – A police chase that spanned over 100 miles has ended with the arrest of a California man and the seizure of over 80 pounds of marijuana.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office says they began pursuing Dejon Wooden of Los Angeles around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 57 near Johnston City.  They say Wooden used the shoulder to pass several tractor trailers and attempted to run police cars off the road.

Wooden was chased by police for roughly 115 miles to Effingham, where a Williamson County Sheriff’s Deputy rammed his vehicle, disabling it and ending the chase.

In addition to the 80.3 pounds of marijuana, police also say they seized 760 ounces of Promethazine, a drug used by doctors to treat allergies and nausea. The street value of the drugs is estimated to be in excess of $250,000.
