A Man has been Charged with Aggravated Battery after Stabbing a Man in Murphysboro

MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (WJPF) – A Murphysboro man has been arrested after stabbing a man with a knife.

On Friday, February 9 around 12:30pm, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to an area hospital regarding a man who had been stabbed.

67 year old Randy Legrand of Murphysboro told police he was completing maintenance work in one of his tenants’ mobile homes, when the tenant, 39 year old Jonathan Brim stabbed Legrand in the neck with a kitchen knife. Legrand was taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies went to the area where the incident occurred, located Brim and arrested him.

Brim was taken to the Jackson County Jail and charged with Aggravated Battery.

The investigation is ongoing.
