Two Herrin residents facing meth trafficking charges

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – Pre-trial hearings have been scheduled for two Herrin residents accused of trafficking meth from southeast Missouri to southern Illinois.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Dawson Shell, 23, and April Switzer, 43, were arrested last month after deputies followed the pair to Missouri and back on an alleged drug run.  WCSO deputies stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Routes 13 and 148 and after smelling a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car, it was searched.  Police found marijuana in the vehicle and, during intake at the jail, April Switzer produced a bag of meth she had tucked inside of a body cavity.

Dawson Shell and April Switzer have been charged with methamphetamine trafficking and delivery of between 15 and 100 grams of methamphetamine. Both were denied pretrial release; their next court date is set for March 20, 2024.
