Logan women’s Horton, Trotter, Johnson earn postseason honors

The Great Rivers Athletic Conference and NJCAA’s Region 24 released their All-Conference and All-Region teams over the weekend.

Freshman guard Taylor Horton and sophomore forward Samya Johnson were named to both teams.  Sophomore center Cheyenne Trotter was named to the All-Conference team as well.

Horton averaged 17.9 points per game, 3.8 rebounds per game, and 1.7 steals per game in the GRAC.  She shot 60% from beyond the arc and 52.8% from the field while hitting 80.5% from the free throw line.

Johnson put together conference season that saw her average 12.4 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game, and 1.6 steals per game in the GRAC.  She was a 50% shooter from the field.

Trotter, the only returner from last season’s team that had playing time, averaged 10.2 points per game, 8.4 rebounds per game, 2.8 assists per game, and 1.6 steals per game in the GRAC.  She averaged 58.5% from the field.

The Lady Vols finished the year with a 9-15 record while going 8-4 in conference.  Their season came to an end on Sunday in the District 24 Tournament’s quarterfinals in a 54-51 loss to Olney Central.

This year was the first year under head coach Charlie Jones.
