CAIRO, Ill. (WJPF) – A Cairo man has been sentenced to 70 years for murder.
43 year old Samuel Lewis’s sentence includes 45 years for First Degree Murder plus an additional 25 years due to the statutory firearm enhancement.
A jury found Lewis guilty of First Degree Murder on January 15th and that he personally discharged a firearm that caused the death of the victim.
The sentencing comes after the investigation into the murder of 34 year old Lafayette Woods. The shooting occurred in the 2400 block of Sycamore Street in Cairo on May 9th, 2023.
