Police: Alcohol a factor in deadly ATV crash

GRAND TOWER, Ill. (WJPF) – Alcohol was a factor in a deadly ATV accident in Grand Tower.

It happened around midnight Saturday night near the Mississippi River levee.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says that Rusty Huffman, 36, of Gorham, was driving the 4 passenger ATV when it overturned killing one passenger and injuring another. A fourth passenger was not hurt. The deceased was identified as Sara Bolter, 38, of Murphysboro.

Rusty Huffman was taken to an area hospital and then to jail. He faces charges of aggravated DUI, reckless driving, and failure to remain at the scene of a personal injury crash.
