18-year-old arrested in connection to drive-by shooting

CARBONDALE (WJPF) — An 18-year-old has been arrested in connection to a drive-by shooting in Carbondale.

Carbondale Police say at about 4:00 pm Saturday, Deiajion Nichols fired a shot from a car at a group of people in the 200 block of West College Street. No injuries were reported. Investigators say Nichols and the group he shot at were having a personal dispute.

Deiajion Nichols was arrested shortly afterwards in the 700 block of West College Street. He’s being held at the Jackson County Jail on charges of reckless discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and possession of a stolen firearm.  He’e been denied pre-trial release. His next court date is scheduled for May 20, 2025.
