Just when we thought the conference carousal had finished spinning in the Southern Illinois region, it looks like things might actually be getting taken up a notch.
Tuesday, River Radio Sports Central received confirmation that Centralia High School recently received a letter from the Cahokia Conference officially inviting the Orphans to be a full member of the conference beginning with the 2026-27 school year.
Centralia Superintendent Chuck Lane says the discussion of conference realignment will be evaluated in-house.
Centralia has been a member of the South Seven conference since 1963. The past few years the conference has looked like it was in danger of falling apart but Highland committed to joining in the 2026-27 school year this past Spring to even things out and bring stability to the conference.
