Murphysboro man facing multiple charges after traffic stop in Carbondale

A Murphysboro man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop.

On September 4th just before 11pm, Carbondale police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 500 block of North Carico Street for a moving violation.

The driver, 23 year old Kerwin Watson, was found to have a suspended driver’s license.

The was also found to be in possession of a firearm that was stolen and an illegal amount of suspected cannabis.

Watson was charged with Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of Cannabis, and Driving While License Suspended.

He was arrested and taken to the Jackson County Jail pending a detention hearing.
