Carbondale Police say a Mount Vernon man is behind bars after officers found two guns—one of them stolen—during a weekend patrol.
On Sunday, officers on foot patrol spotted a handgun inside a parked car on East Grand Avenue. When they tried to stop the person connected to the vehicle, 20-year-old Albert Thomas Junior, began to flee but was quickly caught.
Officers say Thomas had a second gun on him, and one of the firearms turned out to be stolen out of Missouri.
He’s now facing multiple charges, including unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a stolen firearm, and resisting police. Thomas is being held in the Jackson County Jail pending a detention he
