Southern Illinois graduate student Ashley Jones was named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week on Monday after her stellar performance in the Salukis recording-breaking win on Thursday against Chicago State.
Jones finished with a game-high 29 points as the Salukis beat the Cougars 115-57.
Jones was 9-of-17 from the field, 4-of-7 from three and 7-of-9 from the charity stripe. The guard also dished out five assists and pulled down seven rebounds in the historic win.
