Monday night, the Du Quoin District 300 Board of Education held a 3 hour closed door session and voted 4-3 to retain Derek Beard as their athletic director. They also voted 4-3 to remove Beard as their football coach.
According to the report, Beard and his lawyer say they are filing a grievance for this decision.
The decision does not affect Beard’s position as head boys track coach.
