A federal judge has ruled the Trump administration cannot cut off emergency funding to Illinois over immigration policies.
The administration tried to withhold disaster relief dollars from states that don’t cooperate with federal immigration enforcement. But the court said the move was unconstitutional, siding with Illinois and other states that sued.
Attorney General Kwame Raoul praised the decision, saying it protects vital funding used to prepare for and respond to emergencies.
