    LISTEN: Troy Barton returns to Southern Illinois as new head coach of Carbondale Boys’ Basketball

    Thursday evening the Carbondale School Board approved the hire of Eldorado native Troy Barton as the next head coach of the Terriers boys' basketball team.  Barton, a former Southeastern Illinois College assistant, returns to Southern Illinois after over a decade in Mississippi at several different stops as an assistant.  Matt Varney and Coach Barton discussed the return to Southern Illinois, the philosophy he'll bring to Carbondale's hardwoods, his experiences in Mississippi, and more:

     

    LISTEN: Benton Baseball upsets undefeated, top-ranked Harrisburg

    The Benton Rangers came in to Wednesday night with a 9-9 record and had a tall task in the 19-0 Harrisburg Bulldogs who were ranked #1 in 2A in Illinois.  They overcame and beat the Bulldogs in 8 innings 1-0.  John Homan spoke with both starting pitcher Dillon Poe, who didn't factor in to the decision but dominated from the hill for 7 innings, and skipper Brett Blondi after the game, hear what they had to say:

    LISTEN: Marion QB Hunter Simmons signs with SIU

    Marion quarterback Hunter Simmons announced his intent to sign with SIU on May 7th.  On May 19th he made it official and signed his letter of intent.  Simmons and Matt Varney talk about his single year at Marion, getting the opportunity to be the next local star to make it to SIU, and more!
