GRAND TOWER, Ill. (WJPF) – One person was killed in a single vehicle accident Tuesday in Jackson County.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says at about 1:08 a.m., a Toyota 4-Runner ran off of Route 3 south Grand Tower, traveled through a field, and became submerged in a small body of water near the highway.
A passenger in the SUV was able to escape. Divers later located the SUV and the driver who was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity is being withheld pending family notification.
